New Meeting Location

Starting in January 2016, Lee Valley has very generously agreed to let us hold our regular monthly meetings in their seminar room. (Thanks to negotiations undertaken by Gary.)

Members are asked to park BEHIND Lee Valley, and enter through door #1 at the back of the store. There is no entry through the store itself.

That door is next to a big roll up door on the extreme left end of the building (as you face the rear of the building). You know you are at the proper place if the trash sorting centre is across the street to your left. You can get to the rear by going up the driveway between Clay West Cafe and Hop, Skip and Jump (kids' play centre) and turning to the right when in the rear parking lot. Door #1 will be opened/unlocked between 6:15 and 6:30 PM.

Mary E Black Exhibition Update

The exhibition was a great success! There were over 2000 visitors and thirty pages of signatures in the guest book. Twenty-nine pieces of art by sixteen Nova Scotian wood turners were chosen for display in the exhibition. These choices were made by three noted Nova Scotia artists (Jeffrey Cowling, Steven Kennard and John MacNab), who were the jurors for the exhibition.

A terrific catalogue of these works was produced, with photography done by Steven Farmer and graphic design by Shelly McCarron. It sold amazingly well and will remain an enduring legacy of this exhibit. Many thanks to the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. Our receipt of funding from their One Time Emerging Heritage and Culture Program allowed us to produce this catalogue.

A PDF copy of the catalogue from the Mary E. Black exhibition can be found here

There was also an excellent review of the exhibition written up in the Chronicle Herald. If you missed it, you can find it at the following link Herald article
